I think God was very kind when he gave us the seasons.

I wonder just how bored we'd end up being if life was one long summer, a perpetual sunny summer. I know right now my mother is strongly disagreeing with me, as she maintains that life would be so much more delicious without rain and winter, and most likely that if she ever was planted on a tropical island for the rest of her life, she'd be perfectly happy. To some that might sound like a novel idea-- "always summer"-- how lovely. I like summer very much, but I cannot help but realize how blasé it would become to us if the sun was always shining and glaring, the heat always penetrating, and the clouds never hanging above, comfortingly, softly, strongly. I think the reason I adore summer so much is because I appreciate it after the rain subsides and the puddles evaporate. I adore fall just as much because summer has unknowingly nurtured inside me a hope and craving for wind and cold and umbrellas (although I never use one, but the concept is pretty) and mossy things and ferns and windshield wipers and freezing, frosty mornings and evenings. Each year the seasons unfold with a story of its own-- and while each one is similar to the other-- every year the portrayal of the story is still specialized, unique.

Thank you, God, for all our seasons. I am so glad I don't live in a box.

And thank you for the elongated shadows and the animated, cold, apple air of Autumn.

I have been thinking these same thoughts as I have been relishing in this wonderful fall weather and the beauty of the changing leaves. Fall is my very favorite season however I love the change from each season to the next even more. God really is good to us!

I definitely agree with you! I love change. Change is good. Mostly because I need to be entertained :). But seriously, my favorite season is autumn.... I love smelling the cold crisp air and hearing the crunch of dry leaves under my feet and the beautiful colors of the changing leaves.

On a tangential note, aside from seasons, that's why we are presented with inclement situations, emotions, and people. How much more can we appreciate the depths of a persons' soul, the faint smile on a child's face, or even the smell of fresh baked cookies?

It is a blessing we live in a cursed world. And accordingly, beauty emanates from each failure...that is why even failure is amazing. With all that said, I hope there's still rain in heaven.

Stumbled upon your blog today and it's a doozy!

Haha I love that you despise a word, but doozy, which I've probably only used twice in my life, definitely has a positive connotation.

And btw, that someone who thinks the same thoughts as me must be pretty swell. I hope you like the word swell.

You're brilliant. I love the word swell!

So, are you just an anonymous blog stalker, or do you have a profile and keep a blog yourself?

Totally forgot to check this until now! Brilliant--...thanks. Anonymous blog stalker--sometimes. Blog writer--the closest I come to blogging is Yelping.

I'd prefer to keep my anonymity because it's rather embarrassing (for one who is not easily embarrassed) how I came across your blog. And yes, I understand how pathetic that sounds.

:D

Oh my. That doesn't sound good. Did you google Holly Madison and somehow my blog popped up too? Yes, that would be embarrassing.

:)

Haha, you're funny. And I would not be embarrassed if it were that.

It has to do with Facebook and a mutual friend (sorta)...hence lies the embarrassment. Clicked on your page because of your one-of-a-kind name. Sounds either creepy or intriguing depending on your personality. :)

And of course, I couldn't help but comment on your wonderful post...

FB and a "sort of" mutual friend? Oh my.

Simply scandalous.
